Night Time Driving Tips

Night Time Driving Tips

All NSW learner drivers are required to drive and record a minimum of 20 hours driving at night in their NSW Learner Log Book. Exemptions may apply.

A night time drive is defined as any drive between sunset to sunrise. Be careful when driving and recording night time hours.

For example, if your drive starts in daylight hours then finishes after sunset, your log book entry must reflect the number of daytime hours/minutes and night time hours/minutes. The same applies to drives that start at night and finish after sunrise.

Review your NSW Learner Log Book entries regularly. You are responsible for all information recorded. Make sure your hours are recorded correctly to avoid disappointment on driving test day.

On driving test day, the Service NSW Licencing Assessor will inspect your log book thoroughly to confirm that you have driven a total of at least 120 hours, including at least 20 night hours, and that your entries reflect correct day and night hours.

If in doubt, book a driving lesson with Always Safe Driver Training, including a review of your NSW Learner Driver Log Book.

THINK SAFE, DRIVE SAFE.
